Biography

Charles was the son of Robert Sharp, a ship-owner, and Mary. Charles was educated at Aysgarth School and then Charterhouse School. While at Armstrong College, Charles studied Chemistry, Metallurgy, Mining, Surveying, Engineering and Electrical Engineering.

He settled at Katanga in the Congo, where he worked as a Mining Engineer until war broke out. Charles died from wounds received in action in the Ypres Salient on 5th February 1916.
