Vincent was born in Felling on Tyne, Durham, to James and Mary Anne McShane. He was the brother of John, Frances, Norah and Kathleen. He was educated at St. John's Roman Catholic School, then Armstrong College.
Vincent joined the South Wales Borderers, 2nd Battalion. In October 1914 he received a commission to the Northumberland Fusiliers, 15th Battalion as Lieutenant. He died on 21st August 1915 at the Dardanelles.
