Henry was born in 1893 in Newcastle upon Tyne to Henry Adolph, a cabinet maker, and Jane Jung (nee Davis). He had four sisters, Elizabeth Mary, Jean Adelin, Minnie Burdon, and Ruby Snowdon. His last known address was 5 Marionople Street, where he lived with his parents and siblings.
He was educated at West Jesmond School, Rutherford College, then Armstrong College. Before the war he worked as a school teacher.
Henry was commissioned into the Northumberland Fusiliers, 1st Battalion. He later attained the rank of Second Lieutenant in the 3rd Battalion in March 1915. He was wounded three times in the course of his service. At the time of his death, Henry was attached to the Northumberland Fusiliers 1st Battalion. He was wounded at Voormezeele, Belgium on 21st April 1915 and died of his wounds several weeks later on 9th May 1915 in St. Eloi aged 21.
Henry's surname is spelt both Jung and Lung in different sources.
