Biography

Allan was the son of George Henry and Mary Ann Hayfield. Allan was born in Cawnpore, Bengal, India. As of the 1911 Census he was studying Civil Engineering.

On 27 April 1911 he left England on a ship headed for Burma, and on 4 April 1915 he returned to England, having listed his last country of permanent residence as India and occupation as Planter.

Allan was commissioned into the Buffs (East Kent Regiment), 7th Battalion. He later attained the rank of Second Lieutenant. Allan died on 6th October 1916 aged 29. According to the National Probate Calendar he died of wounds received at the Schwaben Redoubt, near Thiepval.
