Arthur was the son of Arthur H. Haver, his mother was Jessie Haver, and he had an older brother Marshall and a younger sister Eleanor, who married Kenneth Shallcross Dickinson. The 1911 census has him staying as a boarder at 1 Queen St Knutsford, Cheshire, and working as a life Insurance Agent.
He attended Armstrong College, where he studied mathematics and engineering.
Arthur attained the rank of Private in the Army Service Corps, Mechanical Transport Spare Parts Depot. Arthur died in East Africa on 30th December 1917 aged 32.
