Frederick was born in Twickenham in June 1890, and was educated at St Leonards School and Dover College, before going on to attend the College of Medicine from 1907 to 1913. He qualified as a doctor in March 1913 (M.B., B.S.). Prior to the outbreak of war, Frederick held various positions at the Royal Infirmary.
Frederick was commissioned into the Royal Army Medical Corps at the outbreak of the war, and was subsequently attached to 6th Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment. He saw action in the Gallipoli Campaign, and was involved in the landing at Sulva Bay in August 1915. He later served in France while attached with the same regiment.
Frederick was killed in action on the 9th June 1917. He was struck while attending injured soldiers in an exposed position.
