Alexander was born in 1889 to Arthur and Rose May Comrie of 10 Eskdale Terrace, Newcastle upon Tyne.
During the War, Alexander served as a Second Lieutenant in the Royal Engineers, 257th Tunnelling Company. He died on 15th August 1916 aged 27. He died of wounds (accidental) according to the UK Army Registers of Soldiers' Effects, 1901-1929.
