Reginald was born on 10th March 1890. He studied at Armstrong College from 1907-1910 and graduated with a BSc (distinction in geology) in June 1910. He was elected a fellow of the Geological Society on 14th June 1911.
In January 1912, he joined the Geological Survey of India as Assistant-Superintendent and was posted to the Central Provinces where he studied the origins of calcareous gneisses and bauxite of the area and adjoining districts.
Reginald joined the Indian Army Reserve of Officers early in April 1915, and after a short training in India, was attached to the 125th Napier’s Rifles, subsequently moving to the rank of Second Lieutenant. He was later attached to the 104th Rifles in Mesopotamia. Reginald was shot by a sniper in Mesopotamia and died of these wounds two days later on 9th April 1916, aged 26.
