Robert studied at Armstrong college between 1912 and 1915 and was awarded a B.A. in June 1915.
He served with the Royal Field Artillery, D Battery, 76th Brigade, at the rank of Bombardier. Robert was killed in action on 19th October 1917.
Robert is buried at the Solferino Farm Cemetery in the West-Vlaanderen region of Belgium.
