Gordon was born in 1899 in India. He was the son of Dr Thomas Moffatt Allison and Frances Sarah Allison. He joined the 1st King George’s Own Gurkha Rifles (The Malaun Regiment), 3rd Battalion, and between 1917 - 1919 fought for the British Army in his native India.
Gordon was killed in action outside Fort Sandeman, in north-west India (now Pakistan), on 8th June 1919 aged 20.
Gordon is buried at the Political Agent’s Garden, Fort Sandeman, Baluchistan in modern-day Pakistan.
Gordon's name is also engraved on the Delhi Memorial (India Gate) in New Delhi.
